New York Nursing Home Abuse Lawyers File Lawsuit Alleging Resident Death Resulted from Nursing Home Negligence at Cold Spring Hills Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation

Lawsuit Alleges that Nursing Home Negligence on the Part of Cold Spring Hills Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation Caused Plaintiff to Develop Numerous Decubitus Ulcers, Skin Breakdown, Infections, Malnutrition, Dehydration and Other Injuries which Ultimately Resulted in her Death.

Parker Waichman LLP, a national law firm dedicated to protecting the rights of nursing home abuse and negligence victims, has filed suit on behalf of the estate of a Nassau County, New York, woman who died, allegedly as a result of negligence on the part of the Cold Spring Hills Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, located in Woodbury, New York. The complaint, which was filed in the Supreme Court of the State of New York, Nassau County, UPR Care Corp. d/b/a Cold Spring Hills Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation and Winthrop-University Hospital as Defendants (Index No. 5476/12).

According to the complaint, the deceased Plaintiff was a resident of the Cold Spring Hills Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation from January 26, 2011 through on or about March 9, 2011. While there, she developed numerous decubitus ulcers, skin breakdown, infections, malnutrition, dehydration and other injuries allegedly caused by the negligence of UPR Care Corp. d/b/a Cold Spring Hills Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation.

According to the complaint, the Plaintiff was admitted to Winthrop-University Hospital in Mineola New York from January 20, 2011 through January 26, 2011; from March 17, 2011 through March 29, 2011; from April 13, 2011 through April 29, 2011; and from May 3, 2011 through on or about May 4, 2011. Among other things, the lawsuit alleges the hospital failed to render her proper and adequate care and treatment to prevent the worsening of her skin breakdown

According to the complaint, the Plaintiff died May 4, 2011, allegedly as a result of the Defendants' negligence.

The lawsuit charges the Defendants with, among other things, Negligence and Gross Negligence and Wrongful Death. The complaint seeks an award of compensatory damages and punitive damages, as well as attorney fees and costs on behalf of the decedent’s estate.
