Purchasing used process equipment for a major portion of the plant reduced costs by 70% compared with the price of new equipment.

Leading used process equipment supplier, Perry Videx, successfully sourced and project managed the supply of used equipment for India's largest sugar producer, Shree Renuka Sugars Ltd. Using its extensive contacts, quality equipment was refurbished from a surplus plant in the Ukraine and shipped to India.

Perry Videx sourced most of the used equipment via Ukraine company, Sakhavtomat, with additional equipment from its inventory. Perry Videx served as the supplier to the Indian sugar producer, Shree Renuka Sugars Ltd, the equipment was acquired in Ivanopol, refurbished in the Ukraine, and shipped to India.

The total weight of the equipment was more than 500 tonnes and required significant timber packing. The equipment included:

o    Beet diffuser
o    Beet washer with rinsers and water
o    Catchers for stones, straw and beet tops
o    Beet slicers with 12 frames
o    Stord dewatering presses

The outcome has been a huge success. Shree Renuka Sugars began processing its first beets into sugar in 2010 and will further process this sugar into ethanol. Purchasing used process equipment for a major portion of the plant reduced costs by 70% compared with the price of new equipment. With involvement from India, the United States, England, and Ukraine, the project was a truly global effort.
