Bright Kids is proud to announce the release of its long-awaited Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test, Second Edition (NNAT®2) Preparation Guide for Kindergarten and First Grade. This workbook is the first of its kind to be released to families preparing their children for the NNAT®2, a test that provides a nonverbal measure of general ability. The new, full color, 236-page workbook boasts a comprehensive guide to help children prepare for Levels A and B of the NNAT®2.

NNAT®2 Levels A and B are typically administered to children applying for Kindergarten and First Grade entry into a Gifted and Talented program. To prepare for this exam with older children, Bright Kids will be soon follow up this release with the introduction of the NNAT®2 Preparation Guide for Levels C and D. This book will prepare children for Second and Third Grade entry admissions. Both sets of NNAT®2 Preparation Guides are relevant for students testing for admissions into New York City’s Gifted and Talented program as well as other programs around the country.

The NNAT®2 Preparation Guide for Levels A and B features a 20-question diagnostic which can be used either to initially gauge your child’s strengths and weaknesses going into the NNAT®2, or to assess how well your child has mastered the skills after working through the workbook. In addition to the diagnostic, Bright Kids’ NNAT®2 workbook offers almost 200 Skill Builder Activities to help children practice core skills and build confidence. These activities are meticulously crafted by the Bright Kids staff to reflect the level of difficulty of the NNAT®2. As children will benefit from the use of specific test-taking strategies, Bright Kids has included tips throughout the book for parents to teach to their children. Several NYC Department of Education teachers who reviewed the Guide said “Knowing how difficult the NNAT®2 is, this Guide is essential for all parents whose children are taking the test. It is colorful, engaging and well organized.”

Once children graduate from practicing with the Skill Builder exercises, they then have the opportunity to work with 140 NNAT®2 questions to familiarize them with the content and format of the actual test. These questions include exposure to all four sections of the NNAT®2: Pattern Completion, Reasoning by Analogy, Serial Reasoning, and Spatial Visualization. Questions increase in difficulty in each section and subsection; however, there are simpler questions inserted throughout to ensure that your child does not lose his or her confidence along the way. A student does not need to be able to read, write, or speak to answer NNAT®2 questions, as they are all visually based.

With over 350 practice questions, answer key, and answer explanations, the Bright Kids NNAT®2 Preparation Guide is a must-have for any parent preparing their child for the NNAT®2. Furthermore, this extensive workbook can be used in conjunction with the Bright Kids OLSAT® Preparation Guide to help prepare children for entry into the New York City Gifted and Talented Program. The NNAT®2 Preparation Guide for Levels A and B will ship the week of June 4th, 2012 and the Level C and D Preparation Guide will be ready to ship in July.
