Kidzmet helps parents avoid Summer Slide by offering a different learning activity suggestion each day during the Summer.

"Learning doesn't just happen at a desk or a computer. It happens all around us. Summer is a perfect opportunity to realize that our world is also a classroom."

Summer has arrived and kids are giddy with the excitement about the change of pace that this time of year brings. School's out of the picture and so is homework! The challenge is that during the three months of "down time" kids have between school years, they lose between one month and three months of knowledge per subject that they worked so hard to learn the year prior, which means playing catch-up at the beginning of the school year. Not every child loses the same amount, however. In fact, according to the National Summer Learning Association, two-thirds of the 9th grade achievement gap comes as a result of differing levels of summer learning loss. Kidzmet is offering a free daily email series from Memorial Day through Labor Day with learning activity suggestions to help keep elementary aged kids' mind muscles active and strong throughout the summer.

The series will include suggestions from each aspect of the whole child curriculum aligned with Howard Gardner's eight Multiple Intelligences, including not just math, science and language arts activities, but body smart, spatial smart, music smart, nature smart, people smart and self smart activities, as well.

"We firmly believe that learning should be fun, so this series has been designed to help give parents ideas of learning activities they can do at home to keep their kids' minds active and engaged...that don't involve a ton of screen time," says Kidzmet Founder, Jen Lilienstein.
