Henderson, Nevada (PRWEB) June 04, 2012

The Beat Obama Committee has launched a FaxGram campaign urging the U.S. Senate to close the illegal alien tax loophole. WTHR News in Indianapolis reported on April 27, 2012 that illegal aliens are able to sign up for an Individual Tax Identification Number (ITIN) with the IRS. Then they can claim the Child Tax Credit and other refunds on tax returns.

An audit by the Treasury Department issued on July 7, 2011, found that $4.2 billion in Child Tax Credits and refunds was paid out to illegal immigrants in 2010. The audit found that 2.3 million illegal aliens are claiming children in foreign countries on their tax returns, and receiving refunds directly from the IRS for these children.

“It’s ridiculous that illegal aliens are able to steal this amount of money from the U.S.,” said Randy Goodwin, Treasurer of the Beat Obama Committee. “The Child Tax Credit is supposed to benefit American families, not the extended families of illegal aliens in Mexico and other countries.”

The Beat Obama Committee’s members are sending faxes to the U.S. Senate, urging them to put the issue to a vote. The House has passed HR 5652, which would require a person to have a Social Security number in order to receive the Child Tax Credit. According to an Associated Press report on February 8, 2012, t he illegal alien tax loophole measure is being blocked by Senator Harry Reid, who has accused Republicans of attacking Hispanic children of low-income workers for wanting to close the tax loophole.

“Barack Obama could have closed this loophole during the payroll tax debate last year,” said Goodwin. “But both Mr. Obama and Harry Reid seem to have no problem with allowing illegal immigrants to claim tax refunds for children that aren’t even in this country.”

The Beat Obama Committee’s members are telling the U.S. Senate to vote to close the illegal alien tax loophole. Members and interested citizens can fax the Senate by visiting the Beat Obama Committee website at:
