Research reveals that for a 14-night cruise on the good ship Queen Victoria, the vessel carries 2,000 bottles of Champagne – five times more than what was consumed at this year’s Oscars – as well as 13,000 sachets of ketchup. Saucy!

Furthermore, 12,000 bottles of beer, 5,000 bottles of wine, and 4,399 pints of lager ensure that passengers will be feeling Jolly, Roger. And for the morning after the night before, holidaymakers could tuck into some of the 1,000kg of sausages or 2,000kg of bacon!

Providing more food for thought, the length of the Royal Caribbean Allure is equal to 3,937 Big Macs on top of each other, or the equivalent of 3,130 iPhone 4’s in a line.

It’s also staggering to learn that the horsepower of just one of the Royal Caribbean Oasis of the Seas’ engines (24,780hp) dwarfs that of a Bugatti Veyron (1,001hp) and a F1 car (700hp).

The cost of making such a ship stands at US$1.4bn – for that price someone could buy the Burj Al Arab hotel, an island in Belize, and a Boeing 747-400, and still have spare change to the amount of $481m!
