Dennis C. Hynes and John J. Murphy, CMT, have joined New York Commodity Trading Advisor Briarwood Capital Management as Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Director of Research, respectively. Mr. Hynes will spearhead its marketing strategy, while Mr. Murphy will lead the charge to enhance its research effort.

Mr. Hynes comes to Briarwood Capital after a notable career in the financial community. From 1990 until 2012, he was a founding partner and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for the New York securities broker-dealer, R.W. Pressprich & Co., Inc, where he also served as its president for its managed futures division. Dennis served as the R.W. Pressprich Chief Market Strategist as well, with regular appearances on broadcast media (e.g., Bloomberg TV & radio). Prior to 1990, Dennis held management positions at Morgan Stanley and Bear Stearns. Mr. Hynes received his MBA from the University of Houston, TX.
Mr. Murphy, a former technical analyst for CNBC, has more than forty years of market experience. He is the author of several best-selling books, including Technical Analysis of the Financial Markets. His books on inter-market analysis are credited with launching a new field of analysis based on global market linkages. His latest book entitled Trading with Intermarket Analysis (Wiley) will be released this autumn. He was given the first award by the International Federation of Technical Analysts for outstanding contribution to global technical analysis and is a recipient of the Market Technician’s Annual Award. He is a technical writer for Stockcharts.com, an award-winning financial website. Mr. Murphy received his MBA from Fordham University in New York.
