Memorial Day is a special time of not only reflecting on the memory of those who have willingly given their lives to protect the freedoms we enjoy, but also a time to celebrate these freedoms we experience daily.

This weekend, Pastor Ed Young will offer a special message in honor of Memorial Day at all five Fellowship Church campus locations in the DFW/Miami areas, as well as at the online campus, Fellowship Live. In addition to the inspirational message that is part of every weekend at Fellowship Church, attendees this weekend can also expect a huge outdoor event. Complete with fun family activities geared towards the community; each Fellowship Church campus event is free and open to the public.

Young says of the events, “We live in the greatest country in the world! The freedoms we have been blessed with have come at a high price. We realize and recognize that. We thank God for that. And this weekend, we are going to celebrate and remember all that God has blessed us with as we honor those men and women who have paid for our freedom.”

Though this event is Memorial Day specific, Ed Young and Fellowship Church encourage and support troops and their families throughout the year. One of several ongoing projects is the collection and distribution of care packages to platoons throughout the year. Items such as trail mix, beef jerky, and movies are mailed with notes written by people who specifically volunteer in this role at Fellowship Church. In addition to this, Fellowship’s women’s ministry “Flavour” collected hundreds of ball gowns this past fall as part of Project Ball Gown, a dress donation program that outfits military wives.

Next on the calendar for Fellowship Church is the 4th of July celebration, Freedom Experience. With fireworks, bounce houses, and snow cone trucks, this celebration is all a community wide free event is packed with family fun.
