Americans for Prosperity-Wisconsin, the state’s premier advocate for economic freedom with over 115,000 members, has been traveling the state this week on its “Better Wisconsin Bus Tour” stopping in West Allis, Sheboygan, Oshkosh, Marshfield, Wausau, Eau Claire, Hudson, La Crosse, Madison and Racine. With the livelihoods of Wisconsinites on the line, AFP-Wisconsin’s message is simple but crucial: the budget reforms are working.
“It has been over a year now since Wisconsin took on its historic budget battle in an effort to cut spending and revamp the economy. Despite the Left’s projections, the sky hasn’t fallen and the world hasn’t ended. In fact, the opposite has happened: Wisconsin’s budget reform has been a tremendous success,” said AFP-Wisconsin State Director Luke Hilgemann. “In a time when the national congressional leaders have failed in their duty to pass a national budget for the third straight year, Wisconsin has set an example for the nation on how to tackle challenging financial decisions in order to create a better future.”
“Whereas Washington politicians continue to bicker over which programs to cut and how to reduce spending, Wisconsin’s leaders enacted budget reforms last year that made the tough choices and saved the state $1 billion. This isn’t just a political statistic – it’s a number that is translating itself into the lives of each and every Wisconsinite."
“Thanks to this savings, Wisconsin has been able to create more jobs and keep taxes low. Statewide, property taxes have fallen for the first time in 12 years. Moreover, just yesterday, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics confirmed what we already knew – Wisconsin has added jobs, 33,000 in fact.”
