“Using a grass roots approach, HeartValveSurgery.com has done an exceptional job supporting millions of patients around the world,” notes Dr. Kevin Accola, Valve Center of Excellence Medical Director at Florida Hospital Cardiovascular Institute.

To help educate the five million patients diagnosed with heart valve disease each year, Florida Hospital Cardiovascular Institute launched the world’s first 'Heart Valve Clinic Microsite' at HeartValveSurgery.com today.

This unique application provides patients and their caregivers a simple interface with extensive multimedia capabilities (virtual tours, educational videos, patient success stories) to help users learn about leading cardiac centers that specialize in treating heart valve disorders including aortic valve stenosis and mitral valve regurgitation, commonly referred to as a leaking heart valve.

“We are thrilled and honored to launch this new application with Dr. Kevin Accola and his team at Florida Hospital Cardiovascular Institute,” notes Adam Pick, founder of HeartValveSurgery.com, author of The Patient’s Guide To Heart Valve Surgery and a double heart valve surgery patient. “This is a big step in our ongoing effort to empower patients through an often misguided and challenging process.”

During 2011, HeartValveSurgery.com received 1.2 million visits while expanding its online library to over 10,000 pages of free information.

“Using a grass roots approach, Adam has done an exceptional job supporting millions of patients around the world,” notes Dr. Kevin Accola, the Valve Center of Excellence Medical Director at Florida Hospital Cardiovascular Institute. “We’re very excited to partner with HeartValveSurgery.com and launch our microsite.”
