StartMeApp (http://www.StartMeApp.net), the Latin American leader in the global mobile advertising revolution, today announced the opening of a new office in Mexico City as part a regional expansion program that will include additional country office openings in upcoming weeks in Colombia and Chile, as well as a Miami office to cover the U.S. Hispanic mobile advertising market.
StartMeApp also announced today the appointment of veteran industry sales and marketing executive Jorgelina Carrara as Mexico Country Director. Based in Mexico City, Ms. Carrara will be responsible for oversight of all operations, business development and client relations with StartMeApp’s growing list of agency and corporate advertising clients in the Mexican capital and throughout the country.
“StartMeApp is delighted to welcome such an experienced and knowledgeable colleague as Jorgelina Carrara to our team and we’re very pleased to be able to present her to our current and prospective clients in Mexico as StartMeApp’s ‘go to’ executive for all their mobile advertising needs in Mexico and region-wide,” said Gaston Fonzo, Co-Managing Director and Founder, StartMeApp.
Recent research shows there are more than 23 million smartphone users in Mexico today, representing a 20% penetration rate among the population – up from just 13% less than a year ago. Rapid smartphone uptake combined with the availability of high-speed mobile internet access means ever-increasing numbers of Mexican consumers are using their mobile devices to access high-quality, multimedia content – and spending up to 30% of their monthly phone bill to do so.
“The rapid growth in Mexico’s mobile market, the popularity of smartphone devices and the availability of high-quality, rich-media content makes Mexico a prime market for mobile advertising by leading global brands and Mexican companies,” said Alejandro Campos Carles, Co-Managing Director and Founder, StartMeApp. “Already within a year of launch, StartMeApp has become a leading mobile advertising company in Mexico and by end-2012, even as we continue our growth in the rest of Latin America, we will account for a 40% share of Mexico’s rapidly expanding mobile ad market.”
To her new position as Mexico Country Manager, Jorgelina Carrara brings a wealth of knowledge gained through more than eight years' experience in marketing, sales and management positions with leading telecommunications, mobile content and applications development companies in Latin America.
Prior to joining StartMeApp, Ms. Carrara was in charge of Mexico country operations as Sales Manager for the regional cross-platform mobile applications developer iPhoideas. Previously, she held the position of Product Manager - Content & Communication with the leading global mobile content and applications provider Buongiorno and from 2003-06 was Regional Account Manager for global telecom expense management and procurement services provider TNX.
StartMeApp’s expansion throughout the region, including the office openings in Mexico City, Bogotá, Santiago and Miami, is not dependent on intermittent injections of venture capital financing, but is being fully funded by StartMeApp’s current operating revenues, which are generated entirely by the company’s profitable mobile advertising business.
As Latin American smartphone usage and mobile ad viewing increase rapidly, media owners, publishers and networks, as well as brands and creative advertising agencies have been relying increasingly on StartMeApp to guide them through the maze of Latin American mobile markets and ad networks, helping them to serve their mobile apps across the region’s 27 countries, complex demographics, multiple platforms, carriers and handheld devices.
An independent mobile advertising company, StartMeApp maintains relations with multiple publishers, ad networks and exchanges operating in the Latin American and U.S. Hispanic markets, enabling it to provide impartial advice and make recommendations to clients on the most appropriate means to meet their content distribution and advertising needs.
StartMeApp’s ad network-agnostic approach have combined with the extensive mobile expertise and experience of its management and staff to enable it to become the leading independent company for planning and buying mobile media in Latin America and the U.S. Hispanic markets.
