Live Transit of Venus Webcast Hosted by WPBT2’s Star Gazers

WPBT2’s Star Gazers, in association with KNPB Public Broadcasting, will stream the Transit of Venus live from Reno, Nevada on Tuesday, June 5 beginning at 3:00pm (PDT) and 6:00pm (EDT).

What: The transit of Venus is when Venus passes directly between earth and the sun, viewers see the distant planet as a small dot gliding slowly across the face of the sun. Historically, this rare alignment is how the size of the solar system was measured. This will be the last transit of Venus to occur in this lifetime.

WPBT2’s Star Gazers, in association with KNPB Public Broadcasting, will stream the Transit of Venus live from Reno, Nevada on Tuesday, June 5 beginning at 3:00pm (PDT) and 6:00pm (EDT). The nation will be able to see this event and join the conversation on http://www.ustream.tv/star-gazers-eclipse. Series Producer of Star Gazers and Star Gazer with Jack Horkheimer, Bill Dishong will provide commentary and Star Gazers Host Marlene Hidalgo will answer questions from the online audience as the transit unfolds.

When: The webcast of the Transit of Venus will take place on Tuesday, June 5 beginning 3:00 p.m. (PDT) and 6:00 p.m. (EDT) at http://www.ustream.tv/star-gazers-eclipse.

Why: WPBT2 will stream this historic event live in an effort to provide all viewers the opportunity to safely view this transit wherever they live. The chat feature will also give viewers an opportunity to ask any questions they may have about the event.
