Walker Sands Communications Finalist for Two PR Daily Awards

Technology focused PR Agency is up for awards in Best Infographic and Best Product Launch Categories.

Walker Sands Communications, a full-service marketing and public relations firm, announced today that it has been selected as a finalist for multiple PR Daily awards, including Best Infographic for Alterian and Best Product Launch for SceneTap.

This year’s PR Daily Awards are the first of the annual public relations awards to be presented by Ragan Communications and its public relations news website, PRDaily.com, the number one international online news site in the industry, and DowJones. There are 45 categories in both traditional and social-media public relations on the awards list, winners will be announced at a special ceremony on September 11, 2012 in Washington D.C.

The SceneTap Launch Campaign was the new mobile app’s debut, with Chicago as its first market. The program was designed to introduce SceneTap to the public and drive app downloads. As a startup with no background in public relations or marketing, SceneTap sought a way to spread the word to consumers and establish credibility to potential investors, as well as bar owners across the country who would potentially partner with SceneTap in the future. The campaign Walker Sands generated achieved more than 500 million impressions and 400+ media placements, resulting in over 5,000 more downloads than the goal (10,000) and 600,000 visits to the web version, successfully capturing 20% of the market in just the first weekend.

The selected Alterian infographic, titled, “Is the Social ‘Ask’ Overused?” was created by Walker Sands in conjunction with Sevans Strategy and focused on SM2 Data from Alterian. The Infographic illustrated “social asks” in terms or number, gender and geographic breakdown and led to coverage in Mashable, Huffington Post and The Atlantic, among other large publications.
