As many parents know, getting kids to go over their spelling list homework can be a challenge. Flash cards have been a traditional method to help with the spelling but many parents find that their children lose interest after going over the words once or twice. Now, getting your kids to study their weekly spelling list just got easier.

Blue Fire Media, a web design company based in Kalamazoo, MI. has branched off a sister company known as Learning Gems. Learning Gems goal is to help make learning fun and they do that by making educational apps for kids that help to keep the children engaged as they learn. Their most recent app that helps with spelling is called Spelling Space Ultimate.

What makes the game unique is that parents or teachers can enter the child’s weekly spelling list right into the game and can record an audio version of the word. Then, when the child plays the game, they hear the word and are able to try and spell it using the keypad. The game will keep track of your records and after each game will give the user the option of replaying the entire list, or to focus on the words that they are struggling with.

The game is set with an outer space theme with attractive graphics of aliens and spaceships which help to keep the kids entertained as they work on their words. In the middle of the game, a mini game launches to keep the kids attention. In this mini-game, the goal is to shoot asteroids at alien spaceships. Kids love this part of the game and it helps them to keep coming back to play the game again and again.

Spelling Space Ultimate is available is available in iTunes, Google Play and in the Samsung Apps Store.
