As technology and modern innovations continue to change everyday life, the rise of the robot is becoming more imminent, even in the classroom. has put together a new infographic chronicling the proliferation of robots in education.

Younger generations are clearly ready to accept robotic technology into their lives, a digital resource for online education from kindergarten to graduate school, launched the “Robot Study Buddies” infographic last week, drawing attention to the increased use of robotic technology in learning environments.

In today’s classrooms, innovative technologies such as interactive white boards, iClickers and tablets are becoming standard tools, and if recent research is any indication, futuristic study buddies may not be far behind. In fact, a project at the Korea Institute of Science and Technology is preparing to build robots to provide English instruction to Korean school children.

“It makes sense that robots would be an element incorporated into a contemporary classroom,” said Michelle LaFrance, spokesperson for “Especially when you consider that the U.S. Department of Labor estimates that 60 percent of science, engineering, technology and mathematics jobs will be computer-related by 2018.”

Additionally, the infographic reveals that beyond helping students learn, robots appeal to children for other tasks, such as play and help with household chores. When asked what their ideal robot would be like, 33 percent of kids surveyed said it would be “cool and popular,” and 28 percent said they’d want it to be “like a human.”

“Younger generations are clearly ready to accept robotic technology into their lives,” said LaFrance. “Gaining proficiency with high tech inventions at a young age is a great way to jump-start a career in those quickly growing industries.”
