Over the last two weeks, business moguls, mid-level managers, mail-room staffers and more competed shoulder-to-shoulder for the coveted Corporate Cup at the Atlanta Corporate Challenge. As the presenting sponsor for this year’s event, The Icebox, a leading promotional products company in Atlanta, has stepped up to the plate to help bring businesses together for fun, fitness and some friendly and healthy rivalry. This year’s theme is “Celebrate the Spirit of Life.”
According to owner Scott Alterman, the competition is “as fierce as it is friendly. We love being part of this event, because it changes up the game by creating a level playing field for everyone who participates. It’s a comfortable networking environment that takes business out of the boardroom and onto the ball field.”
The Olympic-style event is another achievement of four-time track and field Olympian and Atlanta resident Larry Myricks, event director and a bronze medalist in the 1988 Seoul Olympics. His goal is to create an atmosphere for networking, teamwork and camaraderie while boosting employee pride and the morale of participating companies. The Corporate Challenge is open to businesses, service organizations, private and non-profits, divisions or units, schools, churches, associations and government agencies.

The Atlanta Corporate Challenge is an invaluable tool for maximizing team unity within hundreds of businesses and organizations throughout the state of Georgia.”
Among the 21 events are golf, Texas Hold-Em poker, basketball, horseshoes, laser tag, softball, fishing, paintball and dominoes. Gold, Silver and Bronze medals are awarded to the team members of the top three finishers in each event, and The Perkiest Peach Spirit Award is given to one company each year to recognize those that work hard promoting and encouraging their company participation, as well as showing great sportsmanship toward their opponents, officials and event organizers.
