Omaha, NE (PRWEB) June 11, 2012
AccuQuilt, international distributor of fabric cutting solutions for quilting and fabric crafts, announced Alex Anderson, quilting celebrity and television personality, will be guest of honor at the grand opening of the company’s new Omaha headquarters at 137th and Giles (near Cabela’s, off Interstate 80) on June 22, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. The celebration includes the unveiling of the two top winners of AccuQuilt’s 3rd annual international barn quilt design contest. The public is invited to join quilters from across the U.S. and Canada for the celebration, which will include free tours of the new building and quilt gallery exhibit. Plus, guests are invited to sit and sew for a few minutes, making pillowcases for charity as part of the American Patchwork & Quilting One Million Pillowcase Challenge; or they can complete a make-and-take sewing project sponsored by the American Heart Association. The celebration will be extended by two quilting retreats sponsored by AccuQuilt and Country Traditions quilt shop.
“We are as proud as can be to make Omaha our hometown, and we are anxious to meet all of our new neighbors, especially those who share our passion for quilting, a truly American art form,” said Steve Nabity, AccuQuilt’s chief energizing officer. “We also are proud of our two winners. It will be a true honor to welcome Alex Anderson and quilting enthusiasts from across the U.S. and Canada as we unveil large versions of the winning designs on the outside and inside of the new building. It’s going to be a lot of fun for everyone, and it will be a great beginning to our life and work in Omaha as Nebraska ambassadors of quilting.”
According to Nabity, a 17-foot rendition of the grand prize winner’s design will be displayed outside of the new headquarters. A 5-foot version of the runner up quilt design will be hung inside the building where it will be viewed by thousands of guests annually. In addition to the distribution facility where AccuQuilt® Fabric Cutters are shipped across the U.S. and internationally, the new headquarters building contains a quilt gallery to show off traveling quilt collections. The first exhibit will showcase 12 Alex Anderson quilts and is called ‘Alex Anderson – Through the Years’. The new headquarters also includes a state-of-the-art quilting studio, where quilters will be invited to attend classes and retreats. The building even has a coffee bar to entertain guests. It is located just 40 miles from the International Quilt Study Center & Museum in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Anderson has become a regular supporter and promoter of AccuQuilt’s products, the AccuQuilt GO! Baby® Fabric Cutter, GO!® Fabric Cutter, and Studio™ Fabric Cutter. The three cutters have been called the most revolutionary advancements in quilting since the rotary cutter.
“I love, love, love AccuQuilt!” said Alex Anderson. “AccuQuilt is known in the industry for the quality of its fabric cutting products, as well as its commitment to the quilting and sewing industry. It will be an honor to be present at this important event.” Anderson, best known as host of the HGTV show “Simply Quilts,” is author of 30 quilting books in four languages, selling nearly a million copies worldwide.
