Michael Haas the candidate with the most experience relevant to the position of trial judge. He has practiced law for 24 years; nearly half as a deputy prosecutor in Jefferson and Mason Counties, with the balance as a public defender and private practitioner.
He is the only candidate in the Jefferson County race for Superior Court Judge that has argued before the Washington State Supreme Court several times and the Court of Appeals many more times. He has tried around two hundred cases, many of which were felony jury trials. His case responsibilities have included crimes from minor driving offenses to multiple aggravated murder cases.
Mike understands the litigation process at the Superior Court level, better than either of his opponents because he has been a litigator his entire career.
With a successful multi-jurisdictional law practice, many ask why Mike would focus his efforts on becoming Jefferson County’s next Superior Court Judge. For Mike the answer is simple, “I wish to be of service to the community I feel so fortunate to be a part of.”
