The digital video and connected device markets are growing at unprecedented rates. Demand from consumers and content providers for applications that work seamlessly across multiple platforms is fueling our growth.
Seattle, WA (PRWEB) June 12, 2012
Cypress (http://www.cypressisdigital.com) an award-winning Seattle-based digital agency, today announced plans to hire up to 30 new employees in 2012, driven by an increase in consumer video consumption and demand from national brands to make their interactive content available across multiple screens and platforms.
This expansion coincides with the firm’s recent move to a larger office space, now occupying an entire floor in the historic Polson Building in Seattle’s Pioneer Square. The move enabled Cypress to add a cutting-edge media lab, where employees test and perfect innovative applications on a host of devices and consoles for marquee clients like Amazon, Arts & Entertainment Network, Fox Broadcasting, Machinima, and Sony.
The company also recently added three key executives with decades of proven interactive experience and industry acumen. New Executive Technical Director Steve Gray joins Cypress from HTC, where he previously held the position of Principal Technologist. Prior to that, Gray served as the Director of Technology at Razorfish for ten years. Gray’s expertise in e-commerce and mobile development makes him a strong asset to Cypress’ team. Jon Day became Cypress’ new Director of Sales and Marketing, bringing eighteen years of experience in top-line revenue growth, channel development and marketing at top digital agencies, including Vertigo and Saltmine. And, digital veteran Steve Hart was recently promoted from Senior Project Manager to Director of Project Management, where he has over 12 years of experience keeping projects on schedule and within budget for clients that include Amazon, Microsoft and Russell Investments.
“The digital video and connected device markets are growing at unprecedented rates. Demand from consumers and content providers for applications that work seamlessly across multiple platforms is fueling our growth,” said Nate Thompson, CEO and founder of Cypress. “Our high-caliber creative team, paired with our deep technical knowledge gives us the right tools to continue to grow and strategically guide our clients through the complexities of an evolving digital landscape.”
Cypress is also expanding its business nationally and internationally with new offices in Los Angeles, New York and London. This move aligns with Cypress’ long-term strategy to have a strong presence in key global media markets. ”Our emphasis on digital video and multi-screen solutions comes at a critical time as our clients struggle with implementing their TV Everywhere strategies in an extremely competitive marketplace,” said Jon Day, Director of Sales & Marketing. “As our clients are increasingly outside of our geographic presence in the Pacific Northwest, our goal is to bring our software and services to them in their own backyards”
Cypress’ award-winning work includes custom interactive experiences across web, mobile, tablet, console, and connected TV for AT&T, Disney, Microsoft, the National Basketball Association (NBA), Slacker Radio, and Sony Crackle. Most recently, Cypress developed the Media Navigation Template and reference application for Microsoft – a reference framework for entertainment applications with long-form video content on Windows 8; this framework will be made available globally via release by Microsoft’s MSDN program.
