The George Jarkesy Show kicked off a revamped segment of the show this past week. ‘Stock Watch’ includes a mix of financial professionals giving their own insight to potentially profitable stock picks.
Monday’s guest was Charles Carlton, CFA and expert on the DRIP Investment System. On the show he briefly explained that DRIP stands for “Direct Investment Programs” and that it allows “you to buy [stocks] directly from companies” avoiding the fees of broker firms. His stock pick for the day was Qualcomm Incorporated a California based company that develops chips for electronic devices on the 3G network. He predicts “their earnings should grow 18% this year.”
Later in the week the show welcomed Steve Kiel, president and chief investment officer for Arquitos Capital Management as well as a hedge fund manager. On the show he discussed inflation with the co-host Dwayne Deslatte. He mentioned his fear that the “excess liquidity” could come “out at the same time” and cause “inflation [to] come swift and strong.” Kiel urges listeners to “protect [their] portfolio” to prepare for potential inflation. His stock pick was Aberdeen International, that provides “capital to early stage miners” and “resource related companies.” Kiel states that the company’s “trading discount” between the publicly traded assets held ($.48/share) and their stock ($.44/share) is the reason he became interested in this company.
To wrap up the ‘stock watch’ guests for the week, The George Jarkesy Show welcomed final guest Ron Hiram, the Chief Executive Officer of Cellnet Solutions as well as a manager of investment portfolios. His pick for viewers was Suburban Propane Partners the “largest retail marketer of retail propane in the US.” Hiram picked this stock because it’s a MLP or a Master Limited Partnership which unlike a corporation only gets taxed once.
