In Canada, Health Canada ensures that all sunscreens are safe and meet specific requirements before entering the Canadian market

Health Canada requires the sunscreen manufacturer must provide substantive proof of the product ingredients and safety. Both Canada and the US have slightly different standards when it comes to approving drugs so it's not uncommon to see a drug approved for use in one country and not approved in another. Sierra's APRES sunscreen is produced to meet and exceed the new FDA labeling standards in a medical grade FDA regulated production facility.

APRES formula contains 9% zinc oxide, one of the highest percentages available in the sunscreen market to reflect & absorb UVA & UVB light. Sierra uses USP grade natural zinc oxide that is of the highest quality and purity. Sierra’s zinc oxide is finely micronized, however; it is larger in particle size than nanoparticle size zinc oxide.

APRES formula includes Hyaluronic acid - simply referred to as HA, and it occurs naturally in the body. One of the principle characteristics of HA is its ability to retain water and can absorb up to 1000 times its weight in water. APRES sunscreen uses it to hydrate the skin.

“Women can wear APRES under their makeup since the zinc oxide is ground small enough to be transparent when applied on the skin, plus additional benefits of being hypoallegic, free of parabens, fragrance, oils, and no scary chemicals makes it perfect for sensitive skin types to wear it every day”, says Jennifer Rice, founder of Sierra Summits.
