The most telling is a 69% increase in booking revenue versus the same period last year. That's good for us, but most importantly it's fantastic for the property owners and managers that list with us.

Second-quarter numbers show Perfect Places is well ahead of last year's pace for the same time period in vacation rentals bookings, revenue from bookings, unique visitors, and inquiries, according to Rick Haggart, President of Perfect Places.
"We've been focused on building on last year's success with our marketing efforts, and the results have been great," Haggart said. "The most telling is a 69% increase in booking revenue versus the same period last year. That's good for us, but most importantly it's fantastic for the property owners and managers that list with us."
Haggart said the number of bookings increased 36% and the average booking value also increased, resulting in a 69% increase in booking revenue. The increases were driven by a 32% rise in the the number of unique visitors. "These numbers are important because it shows that our efforts to increase the number of unique visitors has had a direct impact on bookings. We're bringing new, fresh customers into our vacation rental network."
There have also been a rise in the number of email and phone inquiries. "All in all, interest in vacation rentals is increasing, and our numbers are further proof of the growing trend toward choosing vacation rentals when traveling."
In addition to the improving US economy and the increased interest in vacation rentals overall, Haggart said there are a few other key drivers to the growth. “First, we have continued to expand our inventory of quality vacation rentals worldwide, which now includes over 60,000 properties. Second, we have successfully navigated major changes to search engine results, most notably Google’s update know as 'Panda' which occurred last year. Haggart said that Perfect Places, like many other online companies across all industries, saw a decrease in traffic after the Google Panda update was rolled out in April 2011. He said Perfect Places took specific steps to regain lost traffic and was even able to record increases.
"We have the resources to produce great quality content and stay abreast of the changes in Google, which means that the property owners and managers that list with us can rest assured that their property will get great exposure on the search engines."
Haggart said new marketing initiatives are underway for 2012 involving search, social and email marketing. "We're constantly looking for new ways to find new customers and get existing customers to book with us again."
