Miami, FL (PRWEB) June 13, 2012
Autism on the Seas (AotS), a niche travel company catering to vacationing families with special needs, and Skyeward Bound Ranch (SBR), a non-profit charity dedicated to providing social and recreational interaction for specially challenged youth, jointly announced today the Florida kickoff of the “I Need a Special Vacation” Essay Contest. Essay winner and the winner’s non-profit autism support group of choice each receive a special needs cruise or land resort vacation with AotS.
“After just wrapping up our first regional contest in Texas, we are eager to roll out our essay challenge in Florida,” says Dalace-Skye Duvall, Founder and President of Skyeward Bound Ranch. The quality of essay submissions has been outstanding and we expect nothing less from Floridian families with special needs who deserve a vacation and time to reconnect.”
Texas essay contest winner, Omonpee Petcoff of Arlington, and her family, will enjoy a special needs cruise vacation with Autism on Seas. Equally exciting, Autism Listens in Texas, a local non-profit autism support group, was selected by Mrs. Petcoff to also win a cruise. SBR and AotS expect they will use the cruise as a means to raise funds for the organization.
“As any family with a child who has special needs can tell you, taking a vacation like “normal” families, is incredibly challenging,” says Mike Sobbell, Founder and Owner of Autism on the Seas. Our unique partnership with Skyeward Bound Ranch has made it possible to offer the Autism community a chance to win a special needs vacation or receive a grant that will enable them to take a REAL vacation with us and other like families, in an environment that is comfortable, accommodating, accepting and FUN!”
“I Need a Special Vacation” Essay Contest Kicks Off in Florida
Over the next year, AotS will run in-market contests with participating local autism advocacy groups, as well as local chapters of national organizations, such as Autism Speaks and the National Autism Association. Families interested in entering the contest will be asked to write a 250-word essay on why they need a special vacation.
The winner will receive a paid cruise or land resort vacation with AotS. Additionally, the non-profit autism advocacy organization named on the entry form by the winner will also receive a cruise. The organization may use the cruise to raise funds or however they wish. Runner-up prizes will also be included.
Contest rules and submission deadlines will be listed on the AotS website, AutismontheSeas.com. As the promotion is rolled out in each market, AotS will make announcements and post updates to their website. AotS is accepting entries from Florida contestants starting June 13th. The submission deadline is July 10th; winning family and organization will be selected and notified by July 25th, 2012. We will be announcing the kickoff of our third regional contest on or about this time, which will be open to special needs families in the states of Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi.
