Sherbrooke, Quebec (PRWEB) June 14, 2012

Jyco Sealing Technologies announced today that it will center manufacturing for three major General Motors programs at its plant in Sherbrooke, Quebec. The facility will produce a variety of automotive weathersealing systems for vehicle model years beginning in 2014, and export the parts to GM assembly plants around the world.

“The parts we make in Quebec will be going to GM plants in every direction, west to China and Korea, South to Brazil and Colombia, east to Europe and the Middle East,” explained Sam Jyawook, Jyco president and CEO.

The tooling for these programs, which totaled over $2 million, was done at Jyco’s Sherbrooke tech center.

“Our operations in Sherbrooke have been running at near capacity since last summer, and a 35,000 SF expansion is underway so that we can increase our volume and workforce. In the next twelve months, we plan to add 120 employees here,” said Mr. Jyawook, who notes that the company now employs 240 workers at its Canadian plants. “Sherbrooke is the flagship of the Jyco organization. It is our largest and most productive facility, and the global center for our design, engineering, product development and testing. The continued health and growth of our operations here are essential factors that guide every decision that Jyco makes around the world.”

Jyco has operations in Canada, China, Japan, Mexico and the United States. The company’s global headquarters are in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

“Jyco is solidly positioned for the future,” said Mr. Jyawook. “This would not have been possible without the support of Investment Quebec during the 2008 crash of the automotive industry. IQ gave us the opportunity to diversify our products and the industries we supply, and emerge as a world leader in automotive sealing technology as well as a new force in innovative applications in a variety of other sectors. IQ’s continued support is an important part of our growth, and their faith in Jyco has helped make us what we are today. And that is a global leader in quality and innovation, a responsible corporate citizen, and first, foremost and always, a Quebec company.”

Since its founding in 2000, Jyco has become recognized as a world leader in the design, engineering and process technology for thermoplastic vulcanizate (TPV) sealing systems. In addition to performance advantages, the company’s proprietary TPV/TPE compound, JyFlex, offers eco-friendly benefits such as lighter weight, increased durability, 100% recyclable scrap and a production process that is free of VOCs and particulate emissions.
