New York, NY (PRWEB) June 13, 2012

Over 300 investors, including the representatives from the nation’s largest public pension plans, state treasurers and chief investment officers (CIOs) from dozens of states, foundations, endowments and fund of funds are meeting today with emerging managers at Consortium 2012 to explore investment strategies and today’s investment landscape. Event keynote by long-time civil rights leader Reverend Dr. Al Sharpton, founder and president of the National Action Network (NAN), and lunch keynote Bill de Blasio, Public Advocate for the City of New York, will examine the proven returns diverse and emerging investment firms are delivering.
Now in its ninth year, the annual gathering includes two companion programs—The Bootcamp for emerging managers and the Women’s Power Lunch. The events will be held in New York City, June 13-14th with all sessions taking place at The Intercontinental New York Times Square.
“With this year’s theme of Showcasing What’s Ahead, Consortium underscores our focus on spotlighting experienced and recently launched emerging managers, as well as key industry issues relating to investing with diverse and emerging managers,” said Renae Griffin, Founder & Principal, RG & Associates. “This signature conference attracts the most active investors in the emerging manager arena responsible for nearly $2 trillion assets under management (AUM).”
Consortium 2012 includes a mix of fast-paced, informative and highly interactive general sessions featuring noted thought leaders, top CIOs and breakout sessions addressing sector investment strategies and operating best practices. Now in its third year, The Bootcamp is a forum geared for emerging manager funds launched in the past 24 months. The focus is on delivering advice and expertise for successfully navigating today’s tight fundraising market and operational challenges. New this year is the Women’s Power Lunch, a two-hour event for women LPs and GPs to foster new connections and dialogue.
