The Common Core Standards—a new set of performance-based education standards set to hit most schools in the U.S. as soon as 2014—are the most significant education initiative to be launched in over a decade. States and districts are scrambling to obtain resources to train their educators in what the Common Core Standards are, and how to implement them.

As groups from all over the country hurry to fill this need, one education company, School Improvement Network, is emerging as the clear leader in Common Core Standards training. School Improvement Network’s Teacher Effectiveness standards component, Common Core 360, has been featured in Education Week and by the Thomas B. Fordham Institute.

“The real power of Common Core 360 is its depth,” says Curtis Linton, vice president of School Improvement Network. “The platform provides training on why the Common Core is needed, what exactly the Standards are, and how educators can implement them at the state, district, and classroom level.”

“We realized early on how important the Common Core was going to be,” Linton continues. “We’ve been out talking to experts about the Common Core, and filming educators implementing it for about a year and a half now. In the course of that time we’ve produced over 70 Common Core Standards training videos, with one hundred more coming by the end of 2012. Our extensive, comprehensive training resources are designed to not only make educators proficient in Common Core implementation, but to make every educator into a Common Core expert.

In addition to Common Core 360, School Improvement Network has collaborated to create the following Common Core Standards training resources for educators:

  •     School Improvement Innovation Summit (SIIS)—Join educators from all over the world as they discuss innovations in education. SIIS attendees will have the opportunity to attend an entire strand dedicated to Common Core Standards training, helping attendees understand and implement the Common Core Standards.
  •     The Common Core Institute, with Heidi Hayes Jacobs—Join renowned education expert Heidi Hayes Jacobs as she and other experts personally run Common Core Standards training workshops focused on building curriculum maps around the Common Core Standards, and cross walking current standards into the Common Core.
  •     Mapping to the Core and Mapping to the Core: LivePlanner—This online Common Core Standards training resource is a personal workshop that can be accessed from your own computer. Mapping to the Core and Mapping to the Core: LivePlanner guide educators through developing personalized plans, maps, and goals. Rather than giving educators a limiting, pre-structured map, LivePlanner provides step-by-step instructions and tools to successfully create customized curriculum maps that support teachers in aligning their practice with the new Common Core Standards.

About School Improvement Network
Founded in 1991 by teachers, School Improvement Network has spent more time researching and documenting the best practices in education than any other organization in the world, and from their research has created the Teacher Effectiveness System (TES). Research shows that Districts and Schools who use the Teacher Effectiveness System produce better teachers, and as a result experience dramatic increases in student achievement, driving up student test scores by as much as 30% in a single year.
