Marigot Bay, St. Lucia (PRWEB) June 15, 2012

Binti Charters, a custom sailing charter service in St Lucia, is now licensed for onshore charters. “Many visitors to St. Lucia are only here for a few days,” said Allen McGaughey, owner of Binti, a 43 foot Robinson and Caine sailing catamaran. “They don’t have time to clear customs and immigration, and to sail to a neighboring island nation. The license means they don’t have to.”

Without a license to do onshore charters, a charter company can only provide offshore charters. The law in St. Lucia states that offshore charterers and crew are required to check out of the country. Similar to the airport, this means clearing customs and immigration where an itinerary is shown and passports are stamped. This can be time consuming, and can be especially challenging during off hours, weekends and holidays. There’s also a fee for leaving the country and another fee for returning. What many visitors to St. Lucia don’t know is once they’ve checked out via customs and immigration, they have to leave the country for at least one night and it’s a full day sail to the nearest island to the north or south.

Binti Charters’ onshore license lets charterers take Binti for a sunset sail, a 4-hour or 8-hour sail, an intimate wedding reception or a round trip sail to the Pitons in the waters of St. Lucia without having to check out of the country. Additionally, onshore licensing provides charterers taking 7-day and 10-day sailing adventures to stay and see as much of St. Lucia as they’d like before crossing south to the Grenadines or north to Martinique and other Windward and Leeward Islands destinations.

“People want to know what to expect before coming aboard,” said McGaughey. “They’re not only visiting our website, they’re also getting references from some of our previous charterers on sites like TripAdvisor.” Millions of people who are making vacation plans use TripAdvisor for insights and tips from travelers who have already visited their desired destinations. With TripAdvisor you can read customer reviews and see pictures taken by some of Binti’s previous charterers during their onshore and offshore sailing adventures.

About the Company

Founded in 2010, Binti Charters offers visitors to St. Lucia half and full day onshore charters, intimate wedding receptions, round trip sails to the Pitons and extended 7-day and 10-day sailing adventures to the Grenadines, Windward and Leeward Islands. With the most requested skipper at the helm of her 43 foot Robinson and Caine catamaran, Binti’s Captain Joseph Charles sails hundreds of visitors to ports in the Windward and Leeward Islands each year. With more than 26 years of sailing experience, Captain Joe, a native St. Lucian, shows Binti’s charterers the Caribbean’s barely touched beaches and rarely seen coral reefs. Captain Joe shares the tastes of Caribbean cuisine as he prepares his family’s recipes in Binti’s galley. Binti’s customized sailing adventures put her charterers in control of the itinerary, anchoring at destinations for as long or as little as they like.
