Costa Rica tours operator La Ruta Adventures announces the addition of the La Fortuna Waterfall tour in their Natural Habitat Wildlife Exploration package.
The Fortuna Waterfall is an incredible experience. Surrounded by extravagant jungle La Fortuna emerges in to view before promptly dropping 70 meters as it settles in a gorgeous turquoise pool.
Locals refer to La Fortuna as “Catarata Fortuna” meaning the fortune waterfall. According to local legend, it got its name from the tools or refuse floating along Río Fortuna during floods that were fished out of the river by villagers and were considered signs of good fortune.
The Tenorio River, also known for its whitewater rafting offer, feeds the waterfall as it rushes through the rain forest in the Arenal Mountain range. The waterfall itself is located at the base of the dormant Chato volcano.
However, this is not all about the visual beauty - for the more adventurous visitor bringing a bathing suit along is strongly recommended. A fantastic trail with steps leading down to the base of the waterfall takes guests approximately 15 minutes to complete. Taking a swim in the pool is a great way to cool off and to feel the power of this magnificent waterfall.
Visitors also have a chance of spotting monkeys, toucans, and other tropical creatures. There are places to enjoy a nice picnic along the banks or many nature photographs to take.
La Ruta Adventures now offers the Fortuna Waterfall tour in their Natural Habitat Wildlife Exploration package for two. This eight day, seven-night package includes a crocodile tour, sea kayak tour, Sarapiqui river rafting tour, a mountain biking excursion and includes 4x4 RAV 4 (manual) with insurance for $1635 (includes two adults and taxes).
