Chosen among almost 300 hospitals, the two hospitals selected are recognized for their commitment and dedication to nursing quality.

This year’s winners represent hospitals of various sizes and affiliation. These hospitals not only improved but sustained their performance consistently over 24 months and have been exemplary in their approach and dedication. The winners of the 2012 Performance Excellence Awards are:

Kaiser Permanente Downey Medical Center, also a winner of the award in 2011, led by Jim Branchick, Chief Operating Officer and Patty Clausen, Chief Nursing Officer. Kaiser Permanente Downey Medical Center cares for over 300,000 members with nine medical offices and a 352-bed hospital in Southeast Los Angeles County, California.

Kaiser Permanente Hayward located in Northern California, and is led by JoAnn Mette, Chief Nursing Officer. Kaiser Hayward is a 210 bed facility with a 20-bed pediatric unit and a 12-bed neonatal intensive care unit.
