Chelsea, New York City (PRWEB) June 15, 2012
In what has fast become one of New York City’s most anticipated summer events, the Adorama street fair was held on Sunday, June 10. Hosted by Adorama, America’s most respected electronics and photography retailer, this year’s fair was dubbed Occupy Adorama and emceed once again by pro football legend and former New York Jets QB Boomer Esiason. All donations from the event are going toward the Boomer Esiason Foundation to find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis.
This blockbuster event closed off the entire block of 18th Street surrounding Adorama’s Manhattan megastore, providing space for the 20,000-plus people who attended it—more than twice as many as last year’s fair. Twenty different vendors, including Canon, Sony, Samsung, Panasonic, Lexar, Pentax, Dell, SanDisk, and many more, exhibited their newest products, while the Adorama megastore set new walk-in customer records, with many taking advantage of sales and specials created exclusively for the fair. Memory card maker SanDisk raffled off a trip to Nova Scotia, while consumer electronics giant LG did the same with one of its big flat-screen TVs.
Lines of fair-goers ran down 18th Street, waiting to pose for pictures with Esiason and other sports and media celebrities. The entire block was Wi-Fi-enabled for the occasion, so that the pictures could be immediately transmitted to the Adorama store for printing and pickup. Visitors also attended free photo and electronics clinics at the outdoor Adorama Learning Center Tent. And as befits any good fair, there were carnival rides, a petting zoo, dozens of raffles and prizes, and lots of other family-oriented activities.
Craig Carton, co-host with Esiason of WFAN Radio’s Boomer & Carton sports show, was on hand for the festivities as well. And since Adorama is the Official Electronics Retailer of the New York Giants, key players from this year’s Super Bowl champ were also in attendance. These football stars even made nice to their cross-town rival’s former leader, Boomer Esiason!
