Splendorini won the final round with his cocktail, "Ticket to France":
1.25 Domaine de Canton
.25 Yellow Chartruse
.75 Leblon
.5 Guavaberry Liquor ( this years secret ingredient the local liquor)
Egg white
Topped with Billecart Salmon Rose and sprayed with Hibiscus essence.
Garnished with a dried hibiscus flower and ground cinnamon
Splendorini shined from a field of 13 extremely talented, international bartenders in Round One to then move on and compete against six finalists in the spectacular Finale which took place at the La Samanna Resort and Spa on the French West Indies's island of Saint Martin.

Splendorini, who was shocked when he was crowned champion, stated, "This is the only competition I have ever been in where I told myself I would not be upset if I loose because of how talented everyone here was today – I am honored."

"This years competition really put us [the judges] in a very difficult spot. All competitors were extremely creative and offered outstanding performance. Their cocktails, which had to include Domaine de Canton as a dominant flavor, were versatile and very inspiring. Carlo was on point in both rounds. His cocktails were three-dimensional in taste, beautiful to look at and he clearly had a lot of fun while competing, which made him my favorite for the title of Bartender of the Year. Huge thanks to Domaine de Canton for having the ability and sensibility to provide such beautiful and inspiring circumstances for the new generation of the world's top bartenders," said judge Dushan Zaric.

Another judge, Jim Meehan, said, “The brash, boozy character of the secret ingredient required in all the recipes for the final round was a formidable challenge for all the contestants. Carlo handled it nimbly, mixing it into a delicious Canton-based silver diamond fizz topped with aromatic spices. Carlo's gregarious personality shined through during his presentation as if he was working behind his own bar. Ultimately, this helped inch him past the others in a tightly contested round, to become the 2012 Domaine de Canton Bartender of the Year.”

All contestants won the global regional competitions with an all-expense paid trip to La Samanna Resort and Spa to compete in the finals. Splendorini took home the grand prize of $10,000 and will be invited to attend the finals in 2013 as an honored guest instead of as a competitor.

The panel of judges overseeing the competition this year was composed of internationally known faces including Dushan Zaric of Employees Only and the 86 Company, Jim Meehan of PDT and Banks Rum, the Domaine de Canton brand owner, John Cooper, Domain de Canton's Senior Vice President, Crystal Fanale, and the 2011 DDCBTOY winner, Stuart Fritz of London.
