Chicago, Illinois (PRWEB) June 19, 2012

Swift Passport Services (SPS), a company offering a full range of visa and passport services, is proud to announce that it has partnered with Gift of Hope, the primary organ and tissue donor network. Gift of Hope is a not-for-profit organ procurement organization that coordinates organ and tissue donation, educates the public about donations, and encourages adults to sign up to become life-saving donors. By partnering with Gift of Hope, Swift Passport Services hopes to help spread awareness of the importance of organ and tissue donation among its clientele.

There are currently over 5,000 people on the Organ Waiting List in Illinois alone and someone new is added to the national transplant waiting list every ten minutes. Unfortunately, with such an immense need for healthy organs and tissue, more than 6,500 people died in 2010 while waiting for an organ transplant. This tragic number can be brought down significantly if more people sign up to become organ and tissue donors. Becoming a donor is a way to give life back to people in need. A single donor can save or enhance the lives of as many as 25 people.

In most states, in order to register as a donor, a person must be at least 18 years of age. If a person is under 18 years old but would like to donate his or her organs, the person can let his or her parents or legal guardian know about his or her wishes. Signing up to become an organ and tissue donor literally takes seconds of a person’s time.

Though many people know the potential benefits of organ and tissue donation, not many people know how to become donors. Swift Passport Services recognizes this fact and, moving forward, the company will give its customers the option to sign up as donors when they purchase passport or visa services via the company’s website, call, or come to the SPS office inside the Chicago China Consulate building. By giving its customers a convenient opportunity to sign up to become organ and tissue donors -- a process that only takes 30 seconds -- Swift Passport hopes to get at least 5,000 new people to register as donors through Gift of Hope. “We’re very excited about our partnership with Gift of Hope. It is our intention to not only contribute to a great cause, but also make the donor sign up process even easier for our interested customers,” said Laurie Dickinson Lee, co-owner of SPS.
