The #BEYONDTHEWALL photo contest welcomed participants to upload photos of themselves going “beyond the wall” to the yurbuds Facebook app or Tweet their action photos with #BEYONDTHEWALL to @yurbuds and compete against each other for the most votes.
Originally planning to send one grand prize winner to Kona for the 2012 Ironman Championship, yurbuds will now send two athletes who brought their amazing photos to the contest – earning a combined vote of more than 14,000. The remaining winners were selected based on votes and/or selected by yurbuds based on their story.
“Our two grand prize winners, Jonathon and Mark, completely blew us away with their unbelievable and inspiring stories,” said Daniel DeVille, Director of Marketing for yurbuds. “They were so close in votes and are such extraordinary examples of triumph and perseverance we decided they both should be given trips to Kona. It will be a life-changing experience for them.”
Jonathon – who posted his #BEYONDTHEWALL photo during the official launch of the photo contest at the Boston Marathon – has become an avid runner in recent years, pushing beyond his barrier of autism. Mark devoted his life to bettering his health and has lost 100 pounds on his mission to go from couch potato to Ironman.
Jonathon and Mark will also see their photos in New York City’s Times Square along with three other winners – Bonnie, Derrick and Clover – who will also receive an iPad 3 for sitting in the second place seats. yurbuds also announced ten third place winners who will receive a yurbuds prize pack.
