CloudOne (http://OnCloudOne.COM), a leader in Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and an IBM Premier Business Partner, celebrates the anniversary of founder Paul Young’s 35th year in information technology companies.

Paul’s career began in 1967 when he was as notified of an immediate draft status, but chose to join the USAF instead of being a draftee. He was assigned to an Air Force Cryptographic Squadron and was later deployed to the 5th Air Force base at Fuchu Air Station, Japan. Paul’s talents quickly required military clearances of Secret, Top Secret-Crypto, and the highest access of SSIR (Security Services Indoctrination Required). Paul was promoted from E1 to E5 in under two years.

As an entrepreneur at heart Paul began his company-building mentality while stationed in Japan with the USAF, launching FECRS, one of twenty companies in the world to exchange foreign capital through Japan’s import/export bank. Upon retirement from active duty, Paul started a myriad of companies over the decades. MicroSource Inc, a dollar one start up that developed one of the first luggable computers in 1980. This computer was packed with industry leading technology like, 386K byte/drive, 9”CRT screen, optional 8” disk and Dual 5.25” Double Side Double Density Floppy Drives. UNI*Quality Inc, was a dollar one start up UNIX consulting house, that grew to 95 employees and generated $8M in revenue by 1992.

Paul also managed to consult and work with some of the best companies in the world including, AT&T Bell Laboratories, CP Railroad, MasterCard, Ameritech, Lucent Technologies, Motorola, British Petroleum, McDonald’s, Sears, Citadel, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois.

Paul’s current role as Founder and Corporate Architecture Officer at CloudOne keeps him plugged into the technology that he’s been involved in for over 35 years.

“I’m blessed to be able to work with my father everyday”, said Sean Young Co-Founder and General Manager of Operations, “While the technology changes through the years, the business fundamentals remain the same. That experience has been invaluable to the company. Paul has been on the front lines of Innovation for as long as I’ve been alive, it’s pretty amazing.”
