Omaha, NE (PRWEB) June 19, 2012
AccuQuilt, international distributor of fabric cutting solutions for quilting and fabric crafts, and Country Traditions, a Fremont, Nebraska, quilt shop, will welcome guests from across the U.S. and Canada during two Let’s GO! quilting retreats. The retreats will be held at Country Traditions’ shop in Fremont on June 20 – 21 and June 23 – 25, 2012. Each event includes a reception held at AccuQuilt’s new headquarters in Omaha at 8843 S 137th Circle (near Cabela’s®, off Interstate 80). Attendees will include a mix of quilt shop owners and quilters. Special guests will include famous quilter Alex Anderson at the first reception, and three editors of Better Homes and Garden’s special interest magazine, 'American Patchwork & Quilting' (APQ) attending the second retreat, with executive editor, Jennifer Keltner, giving a special presentation at the second reception.
“This is the second annual official retreat season at AccuQuilt, and we can’t wait to meet new quilting friends and renew old friendships,” said Steve Nabity, AccuQuilt’s chief energizing officer. “We consider these retreats and events to be a declaration of Nebraska’s passion for quilting. I don’t believe anyone will go away without learning something exciting and new from each other.” The quilting retreats will be held in the days before and after the 2012 AccuQuilt barn quilt unveiling event and grand opening ribbon cutting. AccuQuilt recently moved to Omaha from Fremont, Nebraska, where the company’s original operation had provided employment for three decades of Fremont residents. The new AccuQuilt headquarters houses a state-of-the-art quilting studio, a quilt gallery and distribution facilities. There is even a coffee bar available to entertain visiting retreaters and other guests.
Retreat activities will include learning new techniques, seeing examples of quilts made with AccuQuilt GO!® and Studio™ fabric cutters, cutting and sewing sample projects, sharing ideas, touring the new headquarters and receiving a surprise gift. Retreaters will have the opportunity to use the full line of AccuQuilt fabric cutters and dies, including the GO!® fabric cutter, GO! Baby® fabric cutter and Studio™ fabric cutter. Participants were invited to bring projects from home made with AccuQuilt fabric cutters to share in Sew and Tell sessions.
In addition to Alex Anderson, Jennifer Keltner, and American Patchwork & Quilting editors; attendees at the AccuQuilt and Country Traditions Let’s GO! retreats include several pairs of mothers and daughter quilters, as well as pairs of husband and wife quilters. Several members from one quilt guild are attending, as are the two winners of this year’s AccuQuilt barn quilt design contest, from Iowa and Ontario, Canada.
