Book Explores the Bible and Its Metaphors

Author Oliver Morgen announces new publicity for his book and invites readers to view the Bible as literature as opposed to religious doctrine

“When I was in high school,” Oliver Morgen, author of the new book “The Quest: For a Personal Understanding of Life” (published by Trafford Publishing, December 2011), remembers, “I had a dream in which I was viewing a large book. Upon waking I heard a gentle masculine voice say, ‘It is all so simple.’ Since I was, at the time, in ‘Search for God’ mode, I believed the dream was in answer to my questions. It took 40 some years for that dream to crystallize.”

The crystallization of that dream led to the writing of “The Quest,” which explores biblical Scripture and decodes its metaphoric references.

“The Bible is not a book to be taken literally, but to be seen as a symbolic work, which entirely changes its meaning and makes it not something to believe but something to be lived,” says Morgen.

An excerpt from “The Quest:”

“One who believes in himself knows where the power really is. He can appreciate others without aligning himself with them. Neither does he separate himself from them. His support comes from within. He is self-assured without being arrogant - knowledgeable, without being pedantic - generous, without being showy. Such a person is responsible for him/herself, while being open to all.

Religion has its basis in duality and dependency. The focused life recognizes individual responsibility and the interdependency of all things.”

Morgen sees his new work as being a stepping stone towards greater happiness and less dissent. “Religion has not brought man closer to happiness, peace or the resolution of conflict. Understanding these religious books may help.”
