Bethesda, MD (PRWEB) June 19, 2012

When a former chocolate store’s small 388 square-foot space became available on the bustling Bethesda Row, Streetsense’s collective of innovative designers, architects, brokers and developers came together to bring a popular downtown DC eatery to life in Maryland. After signing the lease in mid-April, the Holden brothers of the celebrated Luke’s Lobster shops and food truck, turned to their team at Streetsense to transform their counter-service outpost in less than three months, just in time for the summer high season.

"The multi-dimensional expertise of Streetsense was a tremendous asset in creating our Bethesda location. Sam Pan and Andrew Poncher were instrumental in not only identifying the location but also executing the lease. Streetsense architects, J.C. Schaub and Sumaya Kaufman, took the extra steps to understand our concept and fit it into a challenging space in a manner that was both functional and aesthetically pleasing," says Bryan Holden, partner and co-owner of Luke’s Lobster.

The converted Bethesda Row carry-out shop opened its doors on June 14, 2012, offering Bethesda diners a casual, seat-yourself joint with an atmosphere that can be described as beach shack chic: bright colors, hand collected driftwood from New England’s coastline, antique and used buoys, and comfortable outdoor benches that accommodate large groups of friends and family. “The nautical accessories are highlighted as whimsical focal points while doubling as a disguise for all the necessary back-of-house essentials,” says Sumaya Kaufman, lead designer and project manager at Streetsense. The entire space offers ample standing counter-dining, with room for an additional 20 outside, in season.

What first started in New York City as a family business venture is now Luke’s Lobster, Bethesda’s hidden gem and sole source of the best lobster rolls and chowders. Don’t be surprised if you find a line out the door…
