While the Orchid Island Golf & Beach Club Community is certainly known for their outstanding golf course and breathtaking ocean views, the residents and members of the Orchid Island Golf & Beach Club also possess quite a commendable philanthropic side as well. Orchid Island Golf & Beach Club, located in Indian River County, FL recently worked In collaboration with Habitat for Humanity to help the Arce Family, a family in need, by giving them the opportunity to realize the dream of owning their own home. With 1,000 hours of hard labor and the persistence and dedication required to pay off their debts and save $1,000 dollars of their own money, the Arce Family was able to actively participate in the construction of that home. The Orchid Island Community recognizes such admirable qualities and is eager to make the dream of owning a home come true for deserving families.
The Arce Family’s home was an Orchid Island funded home, where half of the cost of building it came from the Orchid Tax Credit Program, and the other half from donations made by generous Orchid Island Owners. Donations from Orchid Island Owners also bought the land the home was built on and paid for the infrastructure, as well as the home’s appliances. In addition to the generous monetary support, twenty seven Orchid Island Golf & Beach Club Members took part in building the home. To date, Orchid Island Golf & Beach Club Owners have built 17 homes, with 3 planned for next year. The Orchid Island Community has raised over $1.3 million in donations and $700,000 in tax dollars, and more than 60 Orchid Island Club Members have volunteered their time to build Habitat homes in Indian River County.
