Kicking blog Michael Husted.com features interview with kicking coach Chris Husby on his role as a kicking coach, his kicking business, and on being a National Camp Series (NCS) Associate according to retired NFL kicker Michael Husted author of Husted Kicking.com.

Husby, who runs his kicking coach business out of Maple Grove, MN, attended the University of St. Thomas. He received a degree in marketing and finance and played football (for five years) there as a linebacker, kicker and punter.

In his final year of football, he earned Special Teams MVP for the Tommies, was a 2x MIAC Special Teams Player of the Week and was one of the top punters in the MIAC.

Soon after Chris pursued the NFL level as a punter & kicking specialist.

Husby has learned and trained with some of the best NFL instructors in the industry. He also competed against some of the best punters in the world (some whom have been signed in the NFL) in many NFL Free Agent Kicking & Punting Combines. Chris played minor league football as a punter and kicker for six years.

In 2009, Husby joined the St Paul Pioneers and helped win the NAFL National Championship in Miami, FL and was selected to play in the All American Bowl. He decided that he wanted to give back in the industry and teach athletes the tools of what it takes to succeed as a punter and kicker trying to get to the next level.

Husby holds one on one lessons, small group lessons and clinics, Special Teams camps, and National Camp Series evaluations and camps for kickers, punters and snappers. He also helps mentor the athletes to be good student athletes and teaches the mental aspects of punting, kicking and snapping, and helps them pursue college football.

In 2010, Husby coached nine kickers & punters in the All American Bowl and in 2011 trained five kickers and punters that earned All State recognition.

When asked in his interview with Husted Kicking.com what advice he would give young kickers, Husby said, “Being a specialist is another great opportunity to get on the football field, and even get a collegiate opportunity.

Husby adds, “To be as good as you can be, does takes patience, dedication and practice; and in the end, it can really be rewarding. Most states now have at least one professional kicking coach, so it allows you to get the training to succeed earlier on, and have a qualified coach to help you along the way.”

Husted agrees that having a ‘qualified’ kicking coach is important in a kicker’s path to success. And he says NCS coaches are some of the best coaches in the country.

“NCS Associates are some of the best kicking coaches in the country,” says Michael Husted, who created the National Camp Series (NCS) after kicking in the NFL for 9 years. NCS coaches provide the highest quality instruction to high school kicking specialists around the country.”

“Chris Husby is a great kicking coach,” says Husted. “He recently helped at the NCS Super Camp earlier this year and kickers at every level appreciate his playing experience and his coaching ability.”
