The sensational New York rapper Azealia Banks will give an exclusive performance alongside a DJ set from Dan Lywood (Playlister.fm) at the legendary Serpentine Summer Party this year sponsored by Leon Max. The fundraising evening will take place in the 12th Serpentine Gallery Pavilion and is designed by Herzog & de Meuron and Ai Weiwei. The Pavilion brings together the design team responsible for the celebrated ‘Bird’s Nest’ stadium in Beijing, built for the 2008 Olympic Games.

Leon Max is the founder and principal designer behind the US-based multiplatform fashion company that bears his name. The company opened its first UK shop earlier this year in London’s Notting Hill. A long-term interest in art and architecture led Leon Max to the acquisition of the Nicholas Hawksmoor designed Easton Neston House in Northamptonshire, now the EU headquarters of maxstudio.com.

Supporters of the Gallery from the worlds of international art, film, fashion and business will attend. Guests will also view a major exhibition of the work of celebrated artist Yoko Ono. Proceeds from The Party go directly to the Gallery’s internationally acclaimed Exhibitions, Architecture, Design, Education and Public Programmes.

Unique worldwide, the Serpentine Gallery Pavilion is a pioneering annual architecture commission that gives internationally-renowned architects, including Zaha Hadid, Frank Gehry, Oscar Niemeyer and Jean Nouvel, the opportunity to create their first built structures in England. The Pavilion will also host the Gallery’s anticipated Park Nights programme of music, theatre, film, discussions and performances. The season will explore the topic of memory and will culminate, on 13 and 14 October, with the Memory Marathon, the seventh in the acclaimed Marathon series.
