CBE Executive Running for ACA Board of Directors

Michael L. Frost, Senior Vice President and General Counsel at CBE Group (CBE), a leader in the debt collection industry, is running for a board member seat on ACA International’s board of directors. The Council of Delegates will elect 12 additional board members on July 18, 2012, at ACA International’s Convention in Hollywood, Fla.

Frost has been a prominent public figure in the debt collection industry for many years. He frequently speaks on litigation and regulatory issues, trends and solutions that serve the best interests of consumers and the industry alike. He was recently recognized as one of Collection Advisors Top 25 Most Influential Collection Professionals of 2011. Frost’s efforts have made significant contributions towards CBE’s collective mission of “Defining the future of debt collection.” With the support of his colleagues, Frost has been effective in his efforts to:

•     Educate agencies, lenders and attorneys on best practices in litigation mitigation
•     Create case law that helps to better define outdated regulation
•     Lobby in Washington D.C. to help regulators understand the position of ethical collection agencies and how they are protecting consumers’ best interests while supporting economics and business
•     Build support of inside and outside attorney networks

As a board member I will utilize my leadership experience, industry knowledge and legal expertise to initiate the exploration of the ways ACA International may best meet the needs and recognize the accomplishments of debt collection professionals.”

Frost oversees CBE’s Regulatory Compliance Department and provides continual oversight, guidance and direction regarding all legal matters arising within the company. Frost obtained a BA from the University of Northern Iowa and a Juris Doctor from Drake University Law School. He focuses his legal practice primarily in the areas of consumer collection practices and defense, contract law and employment law. Frost is also the Vice President of the Iowa Association of Credit and Collection Professionals and a member of the American Bar Association, Iowa State Bar Association, Black Hawk County Bar Association and National Association of Retail Collection Attorneys. Frost is a frequent guest speaker at various debt collection conferences and meetings and also serves on the board of local non-profit organizations.
