The American Filtration and Separations Society (AFS) celebrated its’ 25th Anniversary at its’ Technical Conference & Exhibition on June 4-7, 2012 at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Boca Raton, FL.
The highlight of the conference was the 25th Anniversary dinner on Tuesday, June 5th. The evening included presentations on the history of AFS and its growth. AFS honored its 46 current corporate sponsors with plaques and special recognition. The event was topped off by a keynote address on “21st Century Water – Opportunities and Risks” by Will Sarni of Deloitte Consulting, LLP.
The conference began on Monday, June 4th with 8 short courses being offered, ranging from the Fundamentals of Liquid Filtration full day course to advanced topics like Ultrafiltraion Membranes.
On Tuesday, June 5th the Technical Conference & Exhibition begin. It included 9 plenary presentations and over 50 technical presentations.
On Wednesday, June 6th AFS held its Annual Awards Lunch. At this lunch, AFS pays tribute to those who have served AFS. This year AFS recognized the following individuals.

The conference also included a “Latest and Best” session, where companies got to present commercial presentations about their products. This session was well attended with 18 presentations given.
The AFS Corporate Sponsors committee had a number of special events for the AFS corporate sponsors. These included an open meeting for all those interested in corporate sponsorship, an executive breakfast and a round table with Will Sarni.
The conference concluded at noon on Thursday, June 7th. On Thursday afternoon attendees had the opportunity to tour the local facility for Quantachrome Instruments.
AFS will be holding is 2012 Fall Conference October 15-18, 2012 at the Embassy Suites Airport Philadelphia in Philadelphia, PA. The theme of the conference is “Solid-fluid Separation – Innovation in Research and Applications”.
