DORA Holdings is excited to announce H. Richard Hagen as its Chief Financial Officer, Executive Vice President and General Counsel.
A graduate of the University of Illinois College of Law, Hagen received his juris doctor degree with honors. Hagen received several academic awards during law school, including the J. Nelson Young Award, presented to the most outstanding tax student and the CALI Award in International Taxation.
Hagen earned a bachelor’s in business administration with a concentration in accounting from the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Illinois, graduating summa cum laude. While at St. Francis, Hagen was awarded with the most prestigious honor St. Francis bestows on a graduating senior, the Student Laureate Award from the Lincoln Academy of Illinois for being the most outstanding senior at a university. In addition, the University of St. Francis honored Hagen by selecting him to present the 1990 class speech for graduation.
Prior to joining DORA Holdings, Hagen practiced law with the prestigious law firm of Spesia & Ayers in Will County, serving corporate, municipal and individual clients. Hagen also practiced law in Chicago for over a decade serving one of the largest multinational law firms in the world, Mayer Brown, and one of the nation’s leading structured finance firms, Chapman and Cutler. He handled a wide variety of transactions, including multimillion-dollar corporate acquisitions and divestitures for a Fortune 500 company and the reorganization of more than 15 subsidiaries in connection with a multi-billion dollar merger of two leading real estate investment trusts. In addition, Hagen has significant structured finance experience having served as lead counsel to several financial institutions, borrowers and investment bankers. When asked what he liked best about going “in-house” after practicing in law firms, he remarked, “I gained a wealth of corporate legal experience working as outside counsel to companies like Motorola and plan to bring that experience to DORA Holdings.”
Hagen also has been a Certified Public Accountant for over 20 years and practiced in a public accounting firm before becoming an attorney. As an accountant, he served clients as a tax preparer and financial statement auditor. Hagen is excited to combine his accounting and legal experience in his position as CFO and General Counsel at DORA Holdings.
When not serving the company, Hagen contributes significant time and resources to his community. For the University of St. Francis, Hagen serves as an executive member of the Alumni Board, serving as its president from 2007-2009, an executive member and a co-founder of the Business Alumni Network, a member of the Caritas Fundraising Committee and a member of the Business Advisory Committee for the Business School. Hagen is a member of the Joliet Rotary Club, a member of the Professional Advisory Council for the Will County Community Foundation, a member of the Lewis University Estate & Tax Planning Advisory Council and the treasurer of the New Lenox Soccer Association. In addition, he is an active member of his church choir and orchestra and a former musician with the West Suburban Symphony Orchestra in Hinsdale.
