Dr. Thomas Baldwin has been one of the tri-state area's leading biological dentists for over 30 years. He holds degrees in Dentistry, Psychology and Nutrition and is accredited by the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology, (IAOMT) for the proper removal of mercury amalgams from the mouth.
Dr. Baldwin specializes in all phases of biological dentistry and has a national reputation in holistic biocompatible periodontal therapy, a non-surgical approach for the treatment of periodontal (gum) disease. Research has shown that gum disease is a leading cause of heart disease and may contribute to many other medical problems.
Dr. Baldwin's expertise in holistic approaches to dentistry has been a lifelong passion. In addition to his dental practice, he was on the board of the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology (IAOMT) and active in Defeat Autism Now!, Weston A. Price Foundation, International and American Academy of Clinical Nutritionists and many other organizations.
"Dr. Tom Baldwin will greatly enhance the comprehensive holistic nature of our dental practice," says Mark McClure, D.D.S. and partner at NIHA. NIHA's dental team is very excited about his coming on board not only because of his expertise but because of his commitment to patient-centered dental care.
"I believe that, as health practitioners, our obligation is to include the patient in all treatment decisions while educating them as to what might work best for them. The patient-centered dental practice is just that: patient-centered. Our job is to teach the patient how to take care of their own health and to approach illness with the idea of taking care of the cause of the illness and not just addressing the signs and symptoms of disease. Good health is multi-factorial, but the main factor is the patient assuming responsibility for their health and accepting the health care practitioner as a helper/teacher," Dr. Baldwin said.
