Without a focus on innovation, creativity, and change it is easy for individuals and companies to become stagnant and stuck in their processes. With the speed in which the way people find jobs and become employed has changed over the last five years alone, it is imperative that those who serve them -- from job boards to career coaches -- be motivated to stay ahead of the curve.
That focus has been key to the global professional association of resume writers and career coaches, Career Directors International (CDI), in its efforts to help its members lead the career industry in innovation. This is where the Career Innovator competition comes in, now closing in on the end of its fourth year.
According to CDI President, Laura DeCarlo, “The competition has provided a platform for change which has encouraged practitioners from job board administrators to resume writers, career coaches and counselors, and job developers to focus on improving their craft and giving more to their industry and clients through improvement in programs, services, tools, and information provided. Further, for a professional or firm selected as a winner by the competition judges (former Innovator award winners) there is no greater industry accolade.”
And CDI is confident its former award winners (competition judges) and members know what they are talking about when it comes to serving job seekers with value-added content since the Department of Labor selected the association’s website as one of the top 50 job seeker tools out of 634 submitted tools during their Career Tool Challenge.
This year the competition judges will have the opportunity to evaluate a wide array of entries ranging from websites, blogs, apps, e-books, and self-published books to career assessments, training programs, educational games, infographics, and other unique platforms. Having signed non-disclosure and confidentiality agreements, they will have access to the products and services as well as information provided from the entrants in a short questionnaire, and testimonials/feedback from end users to ensure a well-rounded understanding of the tool.
What will the 2012 Career Innovator Award competition bring? CDI and its competition judges eagerly await the opportunity to see what new offerings will up the bar for innovation and value. But the deadline is coming soon for interested applications on Friday, June 29th.
Career professionals, resume writers, and employment website administrators are encouraged to visit CDI’s Award pages and learn more about the Career Innovator competition and other award programs hosted by CDI. From this page all nominees and winners of the competition can be viewed for the prior three years of the competition.
Job seekers can also learn more about how to select a career services provider; access job search and resume writing tools, advice, and videos; and search for a qualified professional resume writer or career coach using CDI’s free job search center.
