We’re headed to the beach – Silicon Beach – on the first weekend of summer to celebrate digital innovators in LA

Silicon Beach Fest announced that Eric Garcetti, LA City Councilmember and Los Angeles Mayoral Candidate, will give its Opening Keynote to kick off its three-day celebration of digital innovators in startups and entertainment June 21-23. Garcetti has long supported digital and technology initiatives in Los Angeles.

Garcetti joins the Silicon Beach Fest lineup, including speakers from VCs and investors (Rustic Canyon, Rincon, Siemer & Associates), accelerators (StartEngine, Amplify, Launchpad, MuckerLab), entertainment (Sony Pictures, FOX Broadcasting, NBC Universal, The GRAMMYs, etc.), advertising (OMD, Ignited, Deutsch, TBWA\Chiat\Day, engage:BDR), press (Forbes, Investor Business Daily, LA Business Journal), startups (Viddy, BeachMint, ShoeDazzle, Pose, PromoJam, PageWoo, Honest) and more.

Silicon Beach Fest, created by Digital LA, and presented by engage:BDR, is the first of its kind event, created by, organized by, and featuring local companies and startups to celebrate the ecosystem of tech, startups and entertainment that is unique to LA. Panel topics focus on VCs, startups, entrepreneurship, and small business, as well as branding, advertising, social media, art, web content, fashion, retail, action sports, and social good.

The term “Silicon Beach” has been widely used to refer to the technology scene in Los Angeles, concentrated in the beach neighborhoods of Santa Monica and Venice.

Garcetti represents the 13th Council District and served as Council President. A fourth-generation Angeleno, he has focused on practical solutions and groundbreaking initiatives in technology and neighborhood improvements. He tweets regularly from his Twitter account @ericgarcetti.
