Who says government can’t rocket to success in the new social media universe?
Ragan and PR Daily are presenting a summit at Space Center Houston, the official visitors’ center of NASA’s Johnson Space Center: “Social Media for Government Communicators.” The summit—held Sept. 12–14, 2012—offers separate tracks for internal and external communications.
“In an era of suspicion about government, it’s essential to master social media to make your case,” says Ragan Communications CEO Mark Ragan. “And if you don’t nurture a digital community, you’ll have no constituency to defend you when the budget ax falls.”
At the summit, experts will discuss social media strategies to revitalize agencies’ public and media relations. They will explain how to create, engage, and grow a social media community—internally or externally. Participants will also learn how to manage a firestorm in the social sphere.
Speakers represent government agency social media powerhouses such as NASA, the FBI and the Navy, along with officials from the Houston mayor’s office and Washington State. All are leaders in their field.
