Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (PRWEB) June 20, 2012
Frozen cocktails are a perfect opportunity to blend simplicity and imagination. If you’ve never had a Batida you don’t know what you’re missing! Handcrafted and finely distilled award-winning Leblon Natural Cane Cachaça is calling all bartenders and home mixologists to compete in their 1st annual BatidaFEST cocktail contest.
Batidas (pronounced Ba-chee-dah) are the ideal refreshment for hot days and warm nights. However, no matter what season it is, one sip will transport you to sunny Leblon Beach. And the bartender or home mixologist who creates the most innovatively delicious Batida won’t have to dream but will walk away with a roundtrip ticket to Brazil and a Batida tour in Rio.
In the spirit of creativity, Leblon officially announces BatidaFEST 2012: Leblon is looking for the most unique, inspired, and tasty Batida recipes. Batidas follow a simple formula of cachaça + fresh fruit or fruit juice + condensed milk + ice and are usually prepared in a blender and served in a highball glass, but this is one cocktail where imagination can really be unleashed. Cedilla, a macerated fruit liqueur from the Superfruit of the Amazon, Açai (AH-SIGH-EE), is also a perfect ingredient to mixing otherworldly Batida’s.
To get started, here is the basic recipe for Leblon’s signature Açai Batida:
2 oz Cedilla
2 oz Sambazon açai juice
2 oz condensed milk
1 oz Leblon Cachaça
1 cup cracked ice
(Combine all of the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Serve in a highball glass, and garnish with a small flower.)
Be inspired by the original and let imagination take you away. Enter your mind-blowing Batida at Facebook.com/LeblonCachaca by submitting a recipe (with a photo or video is even better!) with the subject line “BatidaFEST.” The contest is open to anyone living in the US who is 21+ years of age. The recipe must contain either Leblon Cachaça, Cedilla Liqueur de Açai, or both. There are no limits to the number of entries per person. The deadline for entry is July 13th and judging will take place on July 18th.

About Leblon Natural Cane Cachaça
Leading a Brazilian invasion worldwide with its amazingly delicious, finely distilled spirit, Leblon Natural Cane Cachaça (pronounced ka-SHA-sa) is already the favorite alambique Cachaça in top venues in Brazil, where cachaça is the National Spirit. It is also the key ingredient to the Caipirinha (pronounced kai-pur-EEN-ya), the wildly popular, muddled lime cocktail and national treasure of Brazil. Winner of "Best Cachaça" a record five times, as well as an unprecedented seven consecutive gold medals from 2006 to 2012 at San Francisco’s World Spirits Competition, Leblon is handcrafted and produced at the Maison Leblon in Minas Gerais, Brazil’s fertile agricultural heartland. Overseen by Gilles Merlet, one of the world’s preeminent Master Distillers, Leblon’s special quality is achieved with painstaking attention to every detail in the production process, from the cutting of the cane, fermentation, and distillation, to the filtering, blending, and resting in XO Cognac casks for up to six months. The result is a lively, fruity nose with complex layers of flavor and an ultra-smooth finish that is perfect alone, mixed with fruit juice, in a traditional Caipirinha, or as a Brazilian twist to any cocktail. Leblon is available in all 50 U.S. States. (http://www.leblon.com)
Made from Açai, the ‘Berry that Cries,’ Cedilla is a macerated açai liqueur created at the Maison Leblon in Minas Gerais, Brazil. Expertly blended by Master Distiller Gilles Merlet, Cedilla starts with hand-picked Sambazon Açai berries from the Amazon region in Brazil, macerated and blended with the highest quality alambique Cachaça from the Maison Leblon in Patos de Minas, Brazil. The result is a rich fruity flavor with complex chocolate, spice, and berry notes. Drink neat, over ice, with soda, or as an accent to a favorite cocktail. (http://www.cedilla.com.br)
