Leblon officially announces BatidaFEST 2012: Leblon is looking for the most unique, inspired, and tasty Batida recipes.

Frozen cocktails are a perfect opportunity to blend simplicity and imagination. If you’ve never had a Batida you don’t know what you’re missing! Handcrafted and finely distilled award-winning Leblon Natural Cane Cachaça is calling all bartenders and home mixologists to compete in their 1st annual BatidaFEST cocktail contest.

Batidas (pronounced Ba-chee-dah) are the ideal refreshment for hot days and warm nights. However, no matter what season it is, one sip will transport you to sunny Leblon Beach. And the bartender or home mixologist who creates the most innovatively delicious Batida won’t have to dream but will walk away with a roundtrip ticket to Brazil and a Batida tour in Rio.

In the spirit of creativity, Leblon officially announces BatidaFEST 2012: Leblon is looking for the most unique, inspired, and tasty Batida recipes. Batidas follow a simple formula of cachaça + fresh fruit or fruit juice + condensed milk + ice and are usually prepared in a blender and served in a highball glass, but this is one cocktail where imagination can really be unleashed. Cedilla, a macerated fruit liqueur from the Superfruit of the Amazon, Açai (AH-SIGH-EE), is also a perfect ingredient to mixing otherworldly Batida’s.

To get started, here is the basic recipe for Leblon’s signature Açai Batida:
2 oz Cedilla
2 oz Sambazon açai juice
2 oz condensed milk
1 oz Leblon Cachaça
1 cup cracked ice
(Combine all of the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Serve in a highball glass, and garnish with a small flower.)

Be inspired by the original and let imagination take you away. Enter your mind-blowing Batida at by submitting a recipe (with a photo or video is even better!) with the subject line “BatidaFEST.” The contest is open to anyone living in the US who is 21+ years of age. The recipe must contain either Leblon Cachaça, Cedilla Liqueur de Açai, or both. There are no limits to the number of entries per person. The deadline for entry is July 13th and judging will take place on July 18th.
