Emcien Corp., a leading provider of pattern-based analytics solutions, announces today the launch of EmcienScout, a solution designed specifically for law enforcement to analyze and track criminal organizations, plan and monitor for major events, analyze behavior within key networks and measure sentiment.
EmcienScout helps investigators evaluate, collate, analyze and disseminate actionable intelligence. The technology takes crime fighting to an unprecedented level: Through its automatic correlation engine, EmcienScout detects patterns and relationships to identify group influencers.
“The connections between people, their messages and attitudes are too complex for manual monitoring,” said Radhika Subramanian, CEO, Emcien. “We developed EmcienScout to equip law enforcement with the ability to actually use the data that’s already out there and leverage it to identify key influencers.”
EmcienScout tracks as well as records open-source intelligence, or OSINT, and automatically pinpoints correlations, trending terms and related threats within the network of individuals involved.
“EmcienScout enables us to track not just what’s being said, but also the network of people that is involved in the conversations and the activity,” said a representative from the Gangs and Guns Squad, Atlanta Police Department. With this intelligence, the APD can not only identify and monitor key influencers, but it also helps them build cases for potential prosecution.
Although social networking is driving part of the success of EmcienScout, the technology’s purpose is not contingent on the hope that these influencers post often. EmcienScout uses the discussions by their followers, as well as connections between the speakers and listeners, to reveal and then rank the people of influence within the network. EmcienScout monitors the networks, searching for key terms, or sentiments that are cause for concern, and can also record for a particular location and a specific period of time.
