The MoU sets forth that a laboratory that successfully completes an accreditation in accordance with L-A-B’s National Lead Laboratory Accreditation Program will have been found to be competent under the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025:2005 as well as the EPA’s Laboratory Quality System Requirements, Revision 3.0 (LQSR 3.0), to perform analysis of lead in the matrices of paint films, dust and soil.
“Lead has been a public health issue for the past thirty years, starting with lead based gasoline restrictions in the 1980s and then with lead based paint in the 1990s and now moving to lead in children’s toys and imported construction materials in the past few years. EPA has administered NLLAP for many years to allow for the accreditation of laboratories as a national program to assure quality data for the detection of lead. L-A-B is proud to join that team.” explained R. Douglas Leonard Jr., COO and President of L-A-B.
L-A-B is now accepting new applicants as well as applicants for scope expansions to meet the requirements of both L-A-B’s and EPA’s National Lead Laboratory Accreditation Program. Laboratories are urged to begin the process immediately by requesting a cost estimate through our on-line application process at http://www.L-A-B.com, or contacting our offices at (877) 476-5227.
L-A-B is a full member signatory to the ILAC Mutual Recognition Arrangement (International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation) http://www.ilac.org. L-A-B accredited laboratories' test reports and calibration certificates are accepted as equivalent by all ILAC MRA signatories (76 signatories worldwide).
